Munnar – The King of High Ranges in Kerala
3 1/2 hour drive from Cochin. This place is full of tea plantations. Places to visit include Mattupetty, Eravikulam Wild Life Park, Rajamal etc. This place is home to the endangered species, The Nilgiri Thars.

Place of stay: Great Escapes Resorts, Chinnakanal. The resort is around 13kms from Munnar on Munnar-Madurai Highway. Deluxe room rate was Rs. 2300 per night after deducting the 1000 Rs which i got from Cleartrip.
We started at 8:30 am from Edappally and reached Munnar at 12:55pm. 126 kms from Edappally highschool to Munnar Town.
Top Station: Beautiful. Around 35 kms from Munnar. We couldn’t see the view from the view point because of the heavy mist.
Kundala Dam: On the way to Top Station.
Periakanal Waterfalls: On the way to Anayirangal Dam.
Aanayirangal Dam: Nice place. Not very crowded. On the way to Thekkady.
Mattupetty: Good place to visit. We went for a speed boat trip in Mattupetty Dam. That was awesome. It is conducted by KSEB. The rate is Rs. 375 per boat.
Echo Point: It is near Maattupetty.
Eravikulam National Park, Rajamalai: We went there. But after seeing the queue, returned without visiting the place.
The trip was awesome.
